So I close my eyes ready to get some sleep, can’t wait for sleep since I was writing all day, and I do mean all day, when all of a sudden out of nowhere comes a Highlander. He wants his story told now. It can’t wait. I tell him to go away I’m sleeping. He tells me there’s no time for sleep I have to write his story. In the morning, I tell him. Besides I’m already juggling several stories, his will have to wait.
He won’t quit. He’s persistent. I refuse to give up my sleep and so the battle continues. Then he plays a dirty trick on me. He begins to tell me his story. He’s tethered like an animal to a warrior’s horse, flanked by warriors and being brought into a village. The village folk have all come to see him; he is infamous, he’s beyond handsome and many believe him the son of the devil. But his capture is not all what it seems to be and if they fear him while a prisoner what will happen when he breaks free?
Now he has me interested and I can’t fall asleep so I have no choice but to get up and go to my computer and write the whole first chapter of a book I didn’t even know I was going to write. And I met a heroine that surprised the heck out of me and will be a challenge to write.
I finally got to bed way later than I had expected and of course I woke up throughout the night and had to jot down notes on the new characters that wanted to chat endlessly with me. Got up this morning and got chapter two done just as the sun came up.
Now I’m about to have my tea and I’m hoping that I won’t be disturbed for a while but I can already see that being a problem since the next chapter is vivid in my mind and I’m eager to write it.
This Highlander is never going to let me get any sleep… but heck, what’s so bad about spending my nights with an infamous Highlander. 🙂
what book is this persistent highlander going to be in ?
Haven’t got a title for it yet. As soon as I do I’ll let everyone know all about it. 🙂
