Never Say Your Wish Out loud……..
Because if you tell your wish it might not come true. Unfortunately for three brave Highland worriers theirs came true……
After a victory in battle three Highland worriers sit around a campfire enjoying their victory and Ale. When Raff poses a question, “tell me this.” “If you could have one wish, one thing granted without question-what would it be”? Little did they know a Witch was listening and granted their wishes or were they curses?
In the second book of the trilogy it’s Duclan’s turn for his wish to come true. He wished to “never have to search for a women let them come to me and fall at my feet.”
Now every women who comes near him falls down at his feet literally. Including his Mother and Sisters so his Father banished him from his clan. Now he wonders the Highlands looking for a cure to his wish/curse. Then he meets Aura and their adventure begins. This book is a page turner, laugh out loud, oh no, adventure you wont be disappointed. I highly recommend it for and quick enjoyable read.
Well, I’ve just finished Declan and Aura’s story, and I can definitely say I enjoyed Raff and Ingrid’s story, The Unencumbered Warrior, a bit more. But the only reason for that is because I didn’t really feel the connection between Declan and Aura before they were in insta love.
But, I ABSOLUTELY believe that it was because of the length of the book, and NOT because the story wasn’t well written.
It’s a problem that I think is very common to all of the short stories I’ve read. They all just seemed to be a bit rushed, or not fleshed out as well as they could be, just because there isn’t enough content. That said, short stories have something going for them with the simple fact that you can read them pretty quickly. Which can be a serious bonus for a reader like me, who has trouble putting a good book down once I start reading it, it keeps me from being awake and gritty eyed at 4 a.m. LOL
As for this particular short story, it was still a really good read. It was amusing, sweet, loving, magical and mysterious, and wonderful combination! And I really did like Declan and Aura. He’s brave, honest, protective and loving, and makes a very good match with Aura’s sweetness, courage, and intelligence.
And as always, Donna paints a beautiful picture of the historical Scottish Highlands, that at times you can almost imagine the scent of a damp autumn breeze tinged with peat smoke.
It’s definitely a book that I’ll be happy to read again, and again..
And I can’t wait for Rhodes and Fawn’s story, The Dominant Warrior, coming in December 2025!!
The Irresistible Warrior continues the story of three friends who made their drunken wishes, weaving together a fast-paced tale filled with mystery, romance, and a touch of magic.
I love the dynamic between Declan and Aura. Their characters are well-matched and complement each other perfectly. Both of their points of view are explored equally. We see how Aura approaches curing Declan’s curse and how Declan grapples with his situation. Their love story may have developed quickly, but the journey toward it was sweet and made perfect sense.
The introduction of a new enemy was a welcome surprise. I didn’t see it coming, and it added great tension to the plot. The twist was executed skillfully, answering questions raised at the start of the book. The reappearance of the witch from the first book, along with a new character, was a nice reveal. The way they were woven into the story felt effortless, like puzzle pieces starting to fit together and setting the stage for the final book.
Overall, it’s a true page-turner that kept me wondering what would happen next. I can’t wait to read the final installment.
I absolutely loved The Irresistible Warrior! Blane and Espy’s chemistry jumps off the page, and their connection feels both intense and heartfelt. Donna Fletcher has such a talent for blending passion, adventure, and emotion—you can’t help but get lost in her world. The plot was engaging with just the right mix of danger, loyalty, and romance, making this an excellent second book in the trilogy. Every time I finish one of her stories, I’m reminded why she’s one of my favorite authors.
