What a great read!!
Oh man, so good. I just love a good Scottish historical romance novel, and Donna Fletcher does great Scottish historical romance novels. And this book is certainly no different. I really enjoyed Dru and Knox’s story. Dru’s quite the spitfire, especially for women in that day and age. She’s got brains and a very quick, and sarcastic tongue. She’s also a little bit of a thing who’s got the heart, and bravery, of a man the size of her unwitting husband.
As for Knox, well he might be a mighty, and feared warrior, but he’s also a big ole teddy bear at times, and I love that about him. I also like the way he is with Dru and her wild ways.
Like a lot of Donna’s books, this one has a lot going for it. Action and adventure. Sweetness and a bit of spicy. Loving and tender moments. Laughs and moments of sadness. Mystery and intrigue. And the beautiful historic Scottish Highlands.
It’s definitely worth a re-read and let me tell you I can’t wait for the final book in the trilogy, which is due to come out *hopefully* in August.
My what a wonderful story Intrigued with a Highlander. I just want to share my review with Donna’s readers. A dramatic story not to miss.
Marriage, Secrets, Trust, One Great Complex and Delightful Love Story.
Wow, make yourself comfortable for this story had me captured until the very end.
Talk about an unusual mystery love story that has so many complications for Knox, a giant of a man and a scrawny brave wisp of a gal named Dru:that had my heart pounding so many times at their shocking and courageous decisions.
So much undaunting fear, so much strength in both characters, it was like being on an emotional roller coaster ride.
My thoughts, the threats, the shocks, the battles just kept coming one after another.
This is the second book of the series, and I truly enjoyed the happy rewarding ending to a great in-depth story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this couple!
Donna Fletcher nails intrigue when it comes to Highland romance mysteries! The depth of her stories never disappoint. Readers are given thrown a bone and allowed to think that by knowing one portion of the story, they know where they’re being led but it’s never true! So many cards kept close to the best mean we are staying up late to finish “just one more chapter.” I love the strength of each character and the way they are woven together. I am always truly sad to reach the 90%mark and know that soon I’ll be at the end and won’t have more to read. I love her series and this has been a great one! Not too much of the repetition of “I love you but how could you ever love me” which I do think has improved! I really did enjoy this story and my main thought was that Donna knows how to write a solid historical highland HEE story!!
Absolutely recommend as always!!
I like Dru. Her form of defense against bigger and physically stronger opponents than her is refreshing from other heroines Donna has written. Dru knows her vulnerabilities and weaknesses but finds ways to get out of difficult situations. Her strength is her strong personality and kindness, making sure she helps those who need it.
Knox’s past didn’t stop him from remaining a good person despite the hardships he faced as a boy. He is a fierce warrior but has a good moral character, so he didn’t hesitate to agree to a marriage that he didn’t want initially. The pair’s dynamics complement each other, even though it shows in subtle ways. It makes them an unlikely pairing at first glance, but you can see how well they work together as the story unfolds.
The appearance of Lord Torrance is a nice change. Donna often mentions the next male or female MC of the next installment, but they are usually just talked about and not an active participant. A glimpse of Torrance has me intrigued and looking forward to the next book.
But all in all, this story is heartwarming yet action packed that would have you looking forward with every turn of the page.
Fantastic story, Great Characters, Dru was truly amazing and kept Knox going, however Knox was no slouch, he was right there with her, very observant not much got passed him. The story line was so very well developed from beginning to end which is not uncommon from Donna, but it was a truly special bond between Knox and Dru and reading their development while the mysteries unfold was spectacular! Another masterpiece!
