Highlander Trilogy

The Highlander Trilogy starts with Highlander Unchained, continues in Forbidden Highlander and ends with Highlander’s Captive, which is about Cree’s sister Wintra, though Cree and Dawn are part of that book as well.

Cree and Dawn’s story haunted me for some time and was a challenge since Dawn cannot speak. Her disability made their love story all the more special and poignant.

Some readers have asked me why this was a continuous story from book to book. I realized when I started writing it that I couldn’t do Cree and Dawn’s story justice in one book. It wouldn’t be fair to the characters and certainly not fair to my readers to rush the story. And so the trilogy was born. Do I have plans of writing another continuous story… not presently. But I can’t say I won’t ever do another one since I never know what my characters have in store for me until they introduce themselves.

Highlander’s Captive has a release date of fall 2013.

 Highlander Unchained

The infamous warrior Cree is paraded before the village Dowell and though shackled and wounded he walks with arrogant pride, meeting all the curious and fearful stares of the villagers with a fierceness that has them quickly turning their heads away, all but one woman.

Dawn cannot keep her eyes off the captured warrior, though tales of his exploits suggests he’s more devil than man. When his eyes meet hers, she wonders if the notorious tales are true for only the devil himself could be that sinfully handsome.

Dawn is summoned by the liege lord Colum and ordered to tend Cree, in all ways possible, while he awaits his fate, and please him she must or suffer the consequences. Colum laughs when he issues his orders. He’s sending not only a plain woman to please the mighty warrior in his final days, but one he’ll find no pleasure with. After all, what man wants a woman who cannot utter a sound.

But no shackles can hold Cree and when he breaks free he returns to claim the voiceless woman who found a way into his silent heart.

Forbidden Highlander

Cree and Dawn’s story continues in Forbidden Highlander.

Dawn struggles to accept her future as Cree’s mistress while his future bride Lucerne Gerwan arrives in the village. But there is more for her to worry over. The attempts on her life continue and she fears Cree’s reaction when he learns that she carries his child.

The situation grows worse when warriors from the McClusky clan arrive in the village and the laird Kirk McClusky claims that Dawn is his daughter. Dawn wonders if it can be true and though her father insists she return home with him, she knows her love for Cree will never allow her to leave him. She cannot envision life without him.

Cree faces many obstacles in ensuring Dawn will be his, the hardest being his own failure to tell Dawn how he truly feels about her. But when she is taken from him, his temper rages and nothing stops him from bringing her home. He cannot think of life without her.

Cree and Dawn battle old secrets that finally surface and threaten to tear them apart. And it is with strength and courage that they fight for their love and a future together.

Thank you for Cree and Dawn’s story. I love all the characters. I know I sometime imagines what happens after the story ends. Thank you for letting us see a little more of their future…like how Dawn will be as a Mom =). I hope that maybe you will write a story about Dawn’s brother. It would be interesting to know of his life with his sister Theresa .Final thanks to listening to us the reader… it means alot. Take care,

I have so enjoyed reading all the books I’ve bought and downloaded so far – I still have plenty still to download onto my kindle. Dawn and Crees story has had me gripped that I can’t wait for the third book. You say perhaps Spring 2013, I’m from SA so when would that be. Hope you still have plenty more stories to write !!

I purchased Highlander Unchained last weekend, read it and fell in love with the story. Was surprised when I got to the end and found out there was a book 2. I immediately purchased book 2 and am enjoying it tremendously. Such a touching story between Cree and Dawn. Looking forward to reading book 3 when its released. Well done Donna, thank you for such a wonderful story for us all to enjoy.

I must say i am very anxious about the third book, even though i have read almost all your books and i love them,i must say i have a complain cause in the twins series you kind of left their brother story in the air and i would really like to read a book about him. In the meantime i guess i would read all your books all over again, i have read Cree and Dawn’s story so much that i know it by heart. I just love it!

I’m just starting out now with Highlander Unchained and I’m gripped already. But I have an e-book from Kobo and there are many editing errors, “least” instead of “lest” for example. Does Kobo have an old version? I have to read some sentences several times to figure out what is correct.
